Please Bring Back the WOODEN Boxes, thanks
Root Bag:  Baby Potatoes
Fruit:  Autumn Olives and a taste of “Goji Berry”
(Goji is added to health food juices and considered one of the “super-foods.”  I don’t like it fresh but it is an interesting experience to sample it and be able to say you’ve had  it fresh.  Fox News’ “Medicine Hunter” did a whole show on Goji.   It seems to grow well in Kansas and we have a couple of two year old bushes now.  This spring the birds got to them before we could harvest.  Plant seems to have two harvests so far, once in spring, it goes dormant in summer, then has a “second spring” in the fall
Herbs: Oregano, Lavender, Basil, Jalapeño,  Comfrey
Tomatoes:  Hybrids, Cherry, Pear
Squash: You will have either a Spaghetti squash or an Acorn.  Everyone gets a Yellow Crookneck, if you choose to fry it, cut the skin off.
 Okra
Red Bell Pepper
Cucumbers

Mom’s Quick Lambsquarter “Super-food” Recipe:
After working a long day, this is a 5 minute way to add a side of greens to dinner.
Chop the entire bag of lambsquarters and place in cast-iron skillet with ¼ c olive oil, ¼ c water, ½ tsp sea salt, 1 tsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp chipotle pepper, 1 tsp garlic powder (or three crushed fresh cloves of garlic).  Stir, cover, and cook on medium until leaves turn dark green (3-10 minutes).   May boil for up to 20 minutes depending upon preference of texture.  For variety, may add diced onions, mushrooms, sundried tomato, a dash of maple syrup, or toasted sesame oil.

News from the garden: Alex worked at West’s last night and is at the State Fair today for state FACS (family and consumer sciences) judging.  I am going to recommend to Alex that he shift to every-other week harvests until the garden begins producing more in the fall.  He will contact you about this sometime later this week… half of you will pick up one week and the other half the following, so, he will harvest every week but to ½ the number of people weekly and you each will receive a harvest every other week.  Product is just slow for now and should pick up later in the cool season after the hoop is installed.
This week, in your Doorstep Harvest, you will find:
JJCrenshaw melons!!!!
J Tomatoes (regular, heirloom & cherry mix):  Tomatoes are still going strong. About 4 pounds.
