After discovering that my dream hobby is to be a literary agent, I began writing book reviews to practice summarizing, critiquing, and comparing books.

Babies and Language

In August 2019, I began working for an infant psycholinguistics lab at Duke University. One of the my many responsibilities included creating a blog focused on how babies learn language. building this website gave me the opportunity to dust off my basic CSS and HTML skills.

The blog has two types of articles: longer “Featured” posts and shorter posts that define jargon or uncommon words found in infant language acquisition research, “Meaning Mondays.”

After leaving this position, I had written about half of the total posts.

Founder of “Doorstep Harvest” CSA

In April 2011, I put my experience gardening to commercial use; I founded a small, local, mostly organic Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project for up to four community members. 

The following year, I applied for and won a grant from North-Central Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (S.A.R.E.) for $400 to build hoophouses to extend my growing season.

Lasting until my senior year of high school, I researched and implemented permaculture methods including bin and sheet composting, integrative pest management, companion planting, crop rotations, intensive planting, and season-extending hoophouses.
